Just a quick one...

I have been trying to read as much as I can lately, but it's just not going very well. I have been working a lot, doing a bit of decorating, re-watching Detectorists (if you aren't from the UK, it's a sweet sit-com).

So, how is the Clone Wars movie novelisation? Well, it's a lot darker than the movie and better for it. At the start of the book, we are given a glimpse inside the head of Anakin Skywalker. Boy, is that kid's head fucked. In the middle of a skirmish with some battle droids, he harks back to the massacre of the Tusken Raiders who kidnapped his mother. Karen Traviss actually crafts a more mature take on the story. Yes, she has to stick to script but she does her best to improve it. I like it a lot. It is still very much a slight story, but so far I am enjoying. She paints a really good picture of the battles, but then she does have form. I am going to making a concerted effort to get it finished by the end of the week. I also have to re-write my notes...it was coffee related incident. Hence, such a short update I am afraid.

So, what else has been happening? Richard E. Grant has confirmd he will not be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in the next Star Wars film and the brilliant 11th Doctor, Matt Smith, has also joined the cast.

I have also started rewatching the 2004 reboot of Battlestar Galactica with my partner. I can't believe he has never seen it. I haven't seen it since 2010, I had forgotten how absolutly fantastic it is.

Now, one of my frequent readers, Sam, has asked me to compile a list of my top 5 Sci-Fi programmes and discuss them. A nice idea. Only one problem, I can't settle on them. I am still working on it, though. I just need to go through them in my head and narrow the list down.

Sorry, I haven't been able to furnish you with a more comprehensive review. I am hoping to sort that out for you by tomorrow.

G'night y'all!

  1. I started through on B.Galactica, hit season 3 then Netflix removed it from their schedule, was devastated (will get back to it eventually).

Really enjoyed the Expanse which is a good recent sci-fi romp, gets better as you get further into it.
